Flash Image

Flashing writes the MyNode image onto a USB thumb drive or SD card so your device can boot from it — it's quick and safe. Use one of the free tools below:

Select the downloaded image, choose your USB thumb drive or SD card, and flash.

Boot Device

Now, we can boot the device with the MyNode software!

  • Insert USB thumbdrive or SD card into device
  • Attach Data Drive
    • For PCs, connect internal SSD
    • For Raspberry Pis, connect external drive to device
      • Tip: Connect to USB 3 port (blue) for better speeds
  • Connect Ethernet Cable
  • Power on the device

Common questions about downloading and installing MyNode.

Pick the option that matches your hardware in Step 1: PC (mini PC / amd64), Raspberry Pi 5, or Raspberry Pi 4. Other images (Virtual Machine and older devices) are available under the Other option.

Yes. Flashing simply writes the MyNode operating system onto a USB drive or SD card using a trusted tool like Balena Etcher or Raspberry Pi Imager. You can optionally verify the download signature under "Verify your download" before flashing.

On a Raspberry Pi, MyNode boots from the SD card (or USB thumb drive) and stores the Bitcoin blockchain on a separate large drive (SSD). On a PC you flash a USB thumb drive to boot and install onto the internal SSD. See the recommended hardware for each device in Step 1.
